The Taunton Stroke Club welcomes membership from people affected by stroke in the Taunton and surrounding area.
The group provides support for members and their carers, which can give carers a much needed break.
The group also offers: activities, games, gentle exercises, guest presentations, short mat bowling, quizzes, outings,
and reflexology.
After the survivor has left the nhs, there can be adjustments to their long term living arrangements -
this is where the Taunton Stroke Club can help, by providing peer support from colleagues who have been through
a stroke, and volunteers, in a friendly, non-pressured space.
The Take-Note choir entertained us with melodies of popular songs, and amusing poetry.
Brian Wright, who lectures in FolkLore, told us about the history and derivation of Nursery Rhymes through the ages.
Claire Fisher, a regular visitor, provides Reflexology to one of our Stroke survivors.
Boccia, a indoor bowling game that soon becomes very competitive! It's sometimes played before we go to Taunton Deane Bowling Club
for an outing.
We went to Taunton Deane Bowling Club for short mat bowling. The Club members were very helpful and we finished
the outing with lunch.
Blackdown Hillbillies gave us songs including the Beatles, Eagles, Buddy Holly etc. using guitars, banjo and harmonica.
Karrie Crane, our frequent visitor, led us through seated pilates and meditation - it helps with both exercising and with mindfulness.
Zoë Fox from local Charity "School in a Bag" gave us an interesting talk on how giving basic learning capabilities to poor and
deprived children around the world can help improve their chances.
